Michael is a Vice President in the Emerging Manager Practice at Silicon Valley Bank, supporting Rising Tech Hubs across the U.S. He started working in the entreprenerial ecosystem as a startup operator, moved to the investor side, then investor relations.
Previously, he was part of the Technology Banking group leading Startup Banking efforts focused on Seed through Series A companies in the Southeast.
Before his role at SVB, as ATDC’s Investor Relations Manager, he strategically matched portfolio companies through curated investor interactions and coached portfolio companies on their Investor Readiness. Combined with his previous position as COO of the Atlanta Technology Angels, Michael has reviewed thousands of applications for funding and helped companies secure over $350M in angel, seed, and series A capital.
In 2016 he joined as a partner at The Guild, a real estate social enterprise dedicated to creating spaces for change through community based capital models. He has an MBA from Georgia Tech’s Scheller College of Business and attended the University of Colorado where he double majored in Political Science and Sociology.
Michael serves on various nonprofit boards including Startup Atlanta, LaunchPad2X, Generator, and 18Doors, while also advising various social entrepreneurs and civic innovators. In his free time you can find him enjoying the outdoors with his wife, sons, and dog Stella either mountain biking, hiking, snowboarding, or urban farming at their home in the Oakhurst neighborhood of Decatur, GA.
